Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT) has been shown to positively impact brain function, cognitive functioning according to various studies. Lower pressure seems to be more favorable in aiding cognitive decline and treating chronic conditions. We understand that it can be challenging to find time for daily visits at the clinic and this is where the mission of OxyLife stems from.Take care of your brain from the comfort of your home.
Improving brain functions with mHBOT is a marathon, not a sprint. Consistency and dedication is key to achieving satisfactory results. Higher number of sessions makes it difficult for the patients to go through entire protocol unless the case is extremely severe and requires hospitalization. That’s why we do recommend considering long term rentals when supporting the treatment of brain conditions.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy supports the treatment of peripheral and central nervous system diseases. Hypoxia (oxygen deficiency) and ischemia are at the root of many diseases of the nervous system. Treatments in the hyperbaric chamber play an important role in the treatment of these pathologies.
A study published in the Journal of Neurotrauma found that mHBOT improved cognitive function, reduced inflammation, and increased oxygen delivery to the brain in post-stroke patients. Additionally, a study published in the Journal of International Medical Research found that mHBOT improved brain function in patients with traumatic brain injury, helping to promote neuroplasticity (regeneration of brain cells) and improved recovery outcomes.
Increased oxygen supply in the hyperbaric chamber in the case of neurological diseases reduces hypoxia, improves microcirculation, reduces brain swelling, stimulates angiogenesis (capillary formation process), stimulates neurogenesis (the process of creating new nerve cells), reduces inflammation and awakens dormant regions and brain cells.
Many recent studies suggest that mild HBOT may have positive effects on brain and cognitive function across a range of conditions such as strokes, TBI, PTSD, cerebral palsy, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis.
Research on the nervous system and ways to restore its proper functioning led scientists to the conclusion that a significant factor, also in the therapy of autism, may be to provide brain cells with the appropriate level of oxygenation using a hyperbaric chamber.
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) has been shown to aid children with autism according to studies conducted by Dr. Dan Rossignol and Dr. Paul G. Harch.
Dr. Dan Rossignol conducted a study on 29 children with autism who underwent mHBOT for eight weeks. The study found that the treatment led to significant improvements in socialization, language, and cognitive skills in the children.
Another study Researchers at the International Child Development Resource Center, led by Dr. Rossignol in Florida, whose results are published in the journal BMC Pediatrics, studied the responses of 62 autistic children aged 2 to 7 years. As it turned out, after 40 hours of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (at a pressure of 1.3 ATA) in small patients, a significant improvement in interaction with the environment, self-control and the ability to maintain eye contact was observed.
Dr. Harch conducted a study on 18 children with autism who received mHBOT treatment for 40 sessions. The study found significant improvement in hyperactivity, overall functioning, and social skills.
This scientific evidence suggests that mHBOT treatment has potential to help children with autism, and that further research could lead to a better understanding of how this treatment can be used to support these children’s progress.
